Giving

The 1894 Society recognizes philanthropic commitments of $25,000 or more, either outright or through a pledge of up to five years, to support Temple Athletics mission and provide the resources necessary for our student-athletes to succeed in the classroom and competition.

A philanthropic society in nature, all donors are stewarded with exclusive engagement opportunities with Temple student-athletes, coaches, and staff. Further exclusive experiences, gear, news, and opportunities are provided as gratitude to 1894 Society Members. Members will serve as benefactors to build upon the success that Temple student-athletes have had since the inception of Temple Athletics.

Temple University, founded in 1884, began supporting varsity athletics in 1894. Since 1894, Temple Athletics has won eight national championships in men’s basketball (1938), men’s gymnastics (1949), men’s soccer (1951, 1953), women’s lacrosse (1982, 1984, 1988), and women’s fencing – foil (1992) and featured more than 10 Olympians.

In addition to success in competition, Temple’s Owls continue to demonstrate excellence in the classroom evidenced by an NCAA Graduation Success Rate (GSR) of 94 - ranked in the top 20 amongst all Football Bowl Subdivision institutions - and 22 consecutive semester grade point averages of 3.0 or greater.

Wearing a single-digit jersey is one of the highest honors that a Temple football student-athlete can earn. Prior to each season, these coveted numbers are awarded to the team members who embody the Temple TUFF culture in the classroom, on the field, and in the community.

Temple Athletics shows appreciation to some of the most ardent supporters of the athletic department by welcoming them to ‘The 9’ for their commitment and generosity at the $50,000+ annual unrestricted level.

Temple donors will be recognized in The 9 program for their philanthropic impact on the academic and athletic experiences of our student-athletes.

The 9 receive exclusive benefits for their generous support of Temple Athletics. For more information on The 9, please contact Temple Athletics Owl Club at 215-204-2582 or OwlClub@temple.edu.
